New Students FAQ

Gentle Yoga- Classes are presented at a more relaxed pace, suitable for those who are working through or recovering from illness, surgery, injury or physical disability. This class is also suitable for expecting mothers who are new to yoga or those who wish to take level I classes at a more gentle pace.
Level I Beginners- Learn the basic principles of hatha yoga with an introduction to asana (postures), focusing on structure and alignment through use of props when necessary, and working with breath. Focus is on basic standing postures, forward and beginner backward bends, twists and restorative poses. Also start to build foundation for meditation.

Level II Intermediate- For students who have completed the level I course and wish to deepen their practice. Greater attention is given to alignment and structure as we build upon level I asanas into deeper, more advanced levels of the postures. More advanced breath work and meditation as well as an introduction to inversions.

Level III Continuing- For those continuing from level II. Strength is built in previously learned asanas to move into more advanced and challenging poses and sequences and deeper mediation.

Vinyasa/"Flow"- Suitable for any level. Sequencing of asana to bring warmth and heat into the body.

Meditation- A forty-five minute, drop-in class focused entirely on relaxation and meditation.

Family and Children's Yoga- Periodically we offer workshops for children or for the entire family. A more casually structured class where fun is the main focus. Games and stories as well as brief meditation exercises and relaxation practice may be offered.

Massage- The studio is equipped with a massage table, and services are provided by licensed massage therapists during various hours when classes are not scheduled. Please call for an appointment.
