Yoga
Nidra (yoga sleep) - This class helps to reduce
the physical, mental and emotional tension brought about by
modern life. Various relaxation techniques, such as guided
imagery, body scanning, and verbal cues are used to draw the
practitioner through progressively deeper levels of
consciousness bringing about a sense of calmness, clarity, and
deep rest. Yoga nidra is equivalent to four hours of restful
sleep. Everyone is welcome to take this class since no previous
yoga experience is necessary. Registration is required.
Tai Chi -
Tai-Chi – an internal martial art - teaches mental focus, while
emphasizing coordination, balance, relaxation, and proper
breathing. At all levels, Tai-Chi is said to regulate the
central nervous system and helps prevent stress, high blood
pressure, and heart problems. You may also see this written as
Taijiquan or T'ai Chi Ch'uan, but they are spelling variations
of the same thing. Beginners start with silk reeling exercises
and learn the 18 step Essence Form. For a full description of
the benefits of tai chi, click
